For our last full day in New York we wanted to check off as much as possible from our to do list. Started off at the 9/11 memorial.
The 9/11 memorial is really a humbling place to be. The memorial is so well designed, it's such a peaceful and powerful place. The sound of the waterfalls is incredible. The waterfalls are huge, and they're aptly called 'Reflecting Absence'. Standing there truly makes you think about the huge buildings that once filled those voids, and seeing all those names engraved you can't help but feel sad and think about all those lives lost.
Found this cute sticker in Bryant Park :)
Check out those gold bricks! (American Radiator Building)
I thought this building was pretty cool! (41 Cooper Square by Thom Mayne)
Seems European, no? (Grace Church)
Took the Roosevelt Island Tram to Roosevelt Island. Great view!
There's really not that much to do on Roosevelt Island, but it's nice and quiet over there!
Late lunch at Riverwalk Grill. Had pierogi for the first time in my life - pierogi are like Eastern European (Polish? Ukrainian?) dumplings made of potatoes. Tasted pretty good!
Saw these sparrows eating leftover chicken. Slightly.. disturbing?
In the evening we dressed up to see La Bohème by the Metropolitan Opera at the beautiful Lincoln Center <3 We'd bought our tickets months ahead in December, I was beyond excited!
I was still recovering, and I was terrified I would have a coughing fit in the middle of the performance, but I somehow managed to hold it in until the breaks!
Ahh it was so good! I'm not exactly an expert on operas, but I'm pretty sure all the singers were amazing. The music was amazing. The French bohemian looking sets were equally amazing and so elaborate - I wish I could've taken a picture. There were even live animals on stage - a real donkey and a real horse!
La Bohème is probably one of the most famous operas out there, written by Puccini. It's the story of the poor poet Rodolfo and his neighbour Mimi. It's a story about true love and the sacrifices you're willing to make for true love. It's really a tragic story, yet funny and playful at times. If you've never been to the opera, La Bohème is a great one to start with!

Walked home and came across these Fabergé eggs
Then attempted to stay up all night to see the lunar eclipse! Wasn't able to take a good picture of the moon, but I did manage to get this pretty cool pic of Central Park :)
