Okay, let's talk about Once for a minute.
I had never heard of the movie or the musical, until Michelle took me and Paul to see Once on Broadway the day after we arrived in New York (thanks again Michelle, so happy you took us there!!!).
It's crazy I'd never heard of it, I mean, the movie won an Oscar and the musical won numerous Tony's, a Grammy and other awards.
I fell in love with it.
The soundtrack became new favourite thing, I am obsessed with it.
And it's really not your average musical. Actually, I wouldn't even call it a musical. It's more like a play about music. Mixed with an indie concert.

So basically the story's about a singer/songwriter/busker 'guy', who is sort of depressed because he's had his heart broken. He meets 'girl', and she encourages him to do more with his music. And of course they fall in love. Sort of.
Everything in Once takes place in the intimate setting you can see in the picture above, and it makes you feel like you really are in an Irish bar. During the break you can even get drinks on stage.
I really loved this show. It's raw, it's real and so moving. And funny at times. Kudos to Joanna Christie and Paul Nolan for making everything so believable.
But hey, everyone in the cast was amazing. They all are so talented. They all performed their own music live and you could just feel the love they put in this show.
If you don't like musicals, this is a great *musical* to go to! I also really appreciate the fact that it's not your typical love story.

It really is the most romantic show on Broadway!
Which is weird, because it doesn't end that great at all. Dare I say I wasn't completely happy with the show because of the ending? I just like happy endings, that's all :(. We watched the movie as soon as we got home and I didn't want to see the ending because I got upset with the ending all over again :P
Anyway, if you ever get a chance to see Once, go see it! You can also see Once in London!

So the show had ended, the night was still young and we didn't want to give in to our jetlag. So ended up at Supernova for a quick cocktail :)
I like how all the cocktails came with their own background story in the menu. I was intrigued by the blue ice ball, so got the Planet Claire. Paul decided on a "Dr. Brown's Orchard Seltzer" (vodka, apple and celery or something).
Btw, $16 excl taxes and tips for a cocktail?! Holy shi- alcohol is expensive in the US man..!

My cocktail looked very funky! Both cocktails tasted average though, not bad, not great. And that ball only took up precious glass space that could've been replaced with more cocktail :P
Ahh, this was a great first night in New York!
