I was really craving some good shrimp croquetas, so when we went to Rotterdam for some shoppin' and sightseein', we obv stopped at Hotel New York!
Hotel New York is located on the 'Kop van Zuid', an upcoming neighbourhood in Rotterdam with plenty of fancy restaurants. The building used to be the Holland America Line headquarters. The restaurant is quite average looking from the inside, nothing fancy, very, very casual, but don't let it fool you!

They have a good selection of oysters, very tempting!

This almost childish but interesting placemat explains the history of the building and tells you that they make about 800 shrimp croquetas in a week. Hah. I can tell you why, they're delicioussss.

So went with the shrimp croquetas first. OF COURSE. They are served with fried parsley, bread and butter, and some wonderfully delicious mustard/mayonaise kinda sauce. Absolutely delicious. I could eat a whole plate of them. You can serve me this dish every day, I'm telling you!

Yes, devoured every last bit of it.

On to the main course, I had the steak tartare. It doesn't look pretty, but it was very yummy. But I have to admit I'd rather have my steak tartare already prepared. Preferably at my table. But this worked too. Served with lots of fries and more bread.

This looks prettier on the plate, but was less yummy! Just a plain burger with a nice salsa on the side, but nothing special.

So, if you're ever looking for a nice and straightforward restaurant, you can give HNY a try. AND DEF HAVE THE CROQUETAS. They're amazing.
