I woke up that morning in DC, and I felt so bad. I know the feeling all too well - I felt like I had a fever coming up, my whole body hurt and my head felt so heavy. Oh, not to mention this terrible cough I had. I was SO upset with myself. Like damnit, it's so typical of me to get sick NOW, on HOLIDAY. So I took a bunch of ibuprofen, and combined with the excitement and adrenaline of exploring a new city I dragged myself out of bed.

First up was of course... the White House!

The weather was great, but to be honest I'd rather be sick when it's freezing out. A burning sun doesn't help when you're already feeling feverish ;)

It helped that everything was so damn beautiful.

One of the things I want to see at least once in my life is the opening of the cherry blossom in Japan. I knew cherry blossom was a big deal for DC as well, and we also knew we would be there when the Cherry Blossom festival was happening, but we didn't expect the cherry blossom to be in full bloom when we were there! We were so happy to be there at the right time!

OBAMA'S helicopter? It says "United States of America" on it.. But nah. Probably not. Right?

I want to come back and go paddle boating.

I know I know. Total blossom overload.

We had a couple of hours to spare, and we'd planned on visiting the Smithsonian but since I wasn't feeling so hot (well actually.. I was feeling hot. never mind) we just got our stuff and headed to the train station early instead. So we have to come back to Washington some day (phew, with all the places I have to revisit + places I've never been to and want to visit...)! I have it all planned out already too - we'll do an east coast roadtrip - Washington, Philly, NY (of course), Boston, visit some cool less touristy places in between and maaaaybe the Niagara Falls. Haha. Anyway. I really loved Philly and DC, the trip was totally worth it!
